It depends on the contract. A firm that drafts excellent technology agreements may not be the best choice for a construction contract or a distribution deal. Look for lawyers who regularly handle contracts in your industry and who also understand how UAE courts interpret them.
Both are possible. Parties are generally free to choose a foreign governing law for commercial contracts, but some UAE rules apply regardless, for example for real estate, employment and commercial agency. Choosing DIFC or English law with DIFC Courts or arbitration is common. A lawyer can explain the trade-offs for enforcement in the UAE.

For high-value or cross-border contracts, a large firm with expertise in several areas can help. For standard commercial agreements or straightforward disputes, a boutique or mid-sized local firm usually offers faster turnaround and lower fees. Check who will actually draft or review your contract.
Ask what the main risks in your contract are, how UAE law would treat key clauses such as limitation of liability and termination, which governing law and forum they would recommend, and how much the work will cost. If there is a dispute, ask how strong your position is and what your options are.
No. Rights of audience depend on the lawyer's licence and nationality, and the UAE runs several court systems side by side: federal courts, the local courts of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah, and the common-law DIFC and ADGM Courts.
