This list is editorially researched. No single metric — an award, a review score or a firm's own marketing — determines inclusion. Every firm is assessed against the same nine criteria below, each weighted according to how much it matters to businesses and individuals choosing litigation counsel in Dubai.
To help businesses and individuals facing court proceedings find Dubai law firms with strong litigation track records, assessed on consistent criteria.
We rely primarily on verifiable professional sources: law-firm and lawyer biographies, professional directories, regulatory and licensing information where applicable, reported cases and transactions, reputable legal publications, professional awards, conference profiles and other credible public sources.

We consider reputable third-party recognition such as:
Awards alone never determine a ranking.
We look for signals such as:
Where credible information exists, we consider:
Online reviews are treated cautiously because they can be manipulated.

It depends on your case and the court. Firms with Emirati advocates and long onshore experience are often strongest in the Dubai Courts, while others focus on DIFC Courts work. Ask about recent cases like yours and who would appear in court.
A first-instance case in the Dubai Courts can take several months, and longer if the court appoints an expert to examine accounts or technical issues. Appeals and cassation can add a year or more on top. Your lawyer should give you a realistic timeline for each stage, and tell you honestly if the other side is likely to drag things out.
Most firms charge fixed fees per stage or hourly rates. Court fees depend on the claim value and are capped. Experts, translations and other costs are extra. Ask for a written budget and an honest view of what costs you might recover from the other side.
Arabic is the official language of the onshore Dubai Courts, so contracts, emails and other documents in English or any other language must be translated by a certified legal translator. The DIFC Courts operate in English. Translation affects both cost and time, so it helps to plan which documents you will rely on early.
Onshore litigation is governed by the Civil Procedure Law, Federal Decree-Law No. 42 of 2022, and the Evidence Law, Federal Decree-Law No. 35 of 2022. Substantive claims draw on the Civil Transactions Law, now Federal Decree-Law No. 25 of 2025, the Commercial Transactions Law and other laws. The DIFC Courts apply their own laws and rules.
They are, as licensed legal consultants. That lets them advise clients, draft documents and run negotiations, and, once registered, appear before the DIFC Courts. What they generally cannot do is plead before the onshore Dubai Courts, which is reserved for UAE-national advocates. In practice, a lot of matters are handled by mixed teams of foreign consultants and local advocates.
Ask the firm for its licence number and the lawyer's registration details, then check them with the right authority: the Dubai Legal Affairs Department for firms and consultants licensed in Dubai, the UAE Ministry of Justice for advocates, or the DIFC Courts' Register of Practitioners for DIFC work. It also helps to compare the lawyer's profile on the firm's own website with independent directories such as Chambers and Partners or Legal 500.
Large firms suit very large or multi-jurisdiction disputes that need big teams. Litigation boutiques and established local firms often bring more onshore court experience and more partner attention at a lower cost. Whatever you choose, ask who will actually argue your case, and how often they appear in that particular court.
Ask how strong your case is and where its weak points are, which court has jurisdiction, how long it will take, what it will cost, what you might realistically recover, and whether settlement makes sense now. Bring all relevant documents, contracts and correspondence, ideally in date order, so the lawyer can give you a proper view.
No. Rights of audience depend on the lawyer's licence and nationality, and the UAE runs several court systems side by side: federal courts, the local courts of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah, and the common-law DIFC and ADGM Courts. A lawyer who can appear in one may not be able to appear in another, so ask the question directly before you instruct anyone for litigation.
Good litigators combine courtroom experience with sound judgment about when to settle. Use this ranking to shortlist firms that regularly appear in the court that will hear your case, compare their honest assessment and fees, and act promptly so no limitation period or appeal deadline slips past.
